Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Okla., J.Pow!, better known on-stage as Mr. FUNkateer, started playing drums at age 3. However, at 17, it was the bass guitar that pulled at his ear and his heart. He attended The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences and the experience led him to record, produce and serve as sound technician for numerous artists, conferences and festivals. J.Pow! also co-founded the open mic show entitled GosPoetry a fusion of poetry and gospel themes. With the help of GosPoetry and all that empowered it, he was able to feed his artistry.

Mr. FUNkateer is more than a skilled musician; he is a soulful master motivator who has engaged audiences across the country with humor and authenticity.
