Latin Grammy nominated guitarist Sergio Lara’s new project for 2020 is a new exciting ensemble: the San Antonio Guitar Trio with Miguel Garza and Carlos Sanchez on Spanish guitars.  The music reflects the trio’s cultural backgrounds, an original mix of Latin oriented rhythms and flamenco influences that draw heavily from the jazz concept of improvisation.  Current repertoire includes new original compositions, some well-known jazz standards as well as many favorites from various composers like Luis Bonfa, Paco De Lucia and Chick Corea as well as the many favorites from the Lara & Reyes catalog.  Lara has released eight solo albums on his own label Fusion Acustica Music. The two most recent are The Incredible Latin Guitar of Sergio Lara (2016) and Live in San Antonio (2015), a new collection of original compositions performed at jazz festivals in San Antonio.

The popular Latin guitar duo Lara & Reyes released eight albums and earned a Latin Grammy nomination in 2001 for Best Pop Instrumental Album, their sixth album, World Jazz.  Their seventh album, Lara & Reyes was released in 2006 and won Best Latin Album in the 2007 Indie Acoustic Project Awards. Throughout the years Lara has played in various venues and has shared the stage with many international artists like Julio Iglesias, Ray Charles, Strunz & Farah, Craig Chaquico, Larry Carlton, Bireli Lagrene, Sam Bush, Dr. John, Wayne Shorter among many others.
