“Andrea “Vocab” Sanderson is the “remix” and the mystery; the “edible melody” and the bass thump; the original and the new version of her own profound song.” – Octavio Quintanilla, San Antonio Poet Laureate, 2018-2020

The Bad Mama Jamas are back for a second installment and this time their Afros are more luscious, their thighs are certainly thicker, and their voices are bolder and bigger. It’s the remix, which means this cast is bringing fresh new pieces to stage. These ladies are featuring expressions of womanhood that groove to the reminiscent tunes of the 1960’s & 70’s Soul Power Movement and post disco era when vinyl’s spun and classic melodies ruled the airwaves.

Through music, monologue, dynamic poetry and modern dance these fierce sisters are reconstructing their own brand of femininity.   Conceived by San Antonio’s first African American Poet Laureate, Andrea “Vocab” Sanderson, Bad Mama Jama Remix features Glo Armmer, Naomi Sumthin2Say, Yvette Hardin, Tausha ‘Sings’ Jackson, Ami Nah Dece, Tamara Adira, Lisa “Secret” Martinez, and D.J. Bad Mama Jama Remix: Let the Record show was originally scheduled for March 28, 2020. However, the performance had to be rescheduled due to the global pandemic. Tickets purchased for the original date will be honored for the new date with no further action required at this time. Inquiries regarding refunds should be directed to the point on purchase.
