Ballet Nepantla’s “Valentina” tells stories of women and their roles during revolutionary Mexico through extraordinary dance that fuses traditional ballet folklorico with contemporary ballet. “Valentina” delves into subjects of wealth and power, hope and despair and struggle and triumph with an exceptional team of principal dancers, innovative choreography and beautiful costume design.
Ballet Nepantla was founded by Edinburg, Texas native Andrea Guajardo and Martin Rodriguez from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Together, Andrea and Martin create performances that hit at the heartstrings of people from both sides of the borderland and celebrate the unique, cultural and historical experiences surrounding immigrants and Latinx people.
