Houston Contemporary Dance Company embodies the spirit of creativity, innovation, and diversity of its home city. Under the artistic direction of Marlana Doyle, HCDC aims to lead and innovate performing arts in the region by drawing upon the company’s long tradition of excellence, inclusiveness, diversity, and accessibility. Recognizing movement as an expression of our shared humanity, Houston Contemporary Dance seeks to ignite passion for the art form through a diverse curation of repertory that spans a full range of emotion, content, and physicality and by inspiring and uplifting its community and beyond through its education and outreach programs. By engaging some of the most prominent contemporary dance makers, Houston Contemporary Dance Company sets itself by setting high technical standards, exemplary artistry, and uncompromising commitment to inclusivity regardless of race, culture, sexual orientation, gender, gender variance or nationality.

People tend to think of dance in New York, or L.A., or Chicago, but there’s so much that our city has to offer, I’m trying to put Houston on the map!
