SUMMARY:Felon: An American Washi Tale
DESCRIPTION:Performed by poet\, lawyer and MacArthur Fellow Reginald Dwayne Betts\, Felon: An America Washi Tale is a powerful solo performance exploring the unexpected significance of paper in the American prison system. The play is about reimagining paper\, from legal documents that initiate and end sentences to “kites” — letters from loved ones providing vital lifelines\, or book pages slid under the cell door of an incarcerated teenager— paper serves as both a burden and a beacon of hope. \nWeaving together traditional theater\, poetry\, fine art and Japanese papermaking aesthetics\, the piece is a meditation of Betts’ own experience with incarceration and his legal advocacy work to free others. This reflection on the challenges of living in the shadow of mass incarceration is a story of violence\, love and fatherhood. The world of Felon is shaped by set design by Japanese paper artist Kyoko Ibe\, crafted from “prison paper” that artist Ruth Lingen constructed from the clothes of men Betts first met in prison as a teenager\, visually extending the play’s reach beyond the artist’s own story to illuminate how incarceration touches us all.

SUMMARY:The Bluprint Band
DESCRIPTION:A seven-piece instrumental groove collective\, San Antonio’s own The Bluprint Band features tight and energetic horn-driven arrangements that seamlessly blend R&B\, jazz and funk. Their sound can best be described as genre-bending original music\, exciting improvisation and unconventional covers\, mixed with all-around good vibes. \nTheir debut album 51210 pays homage to the diverse melting pot that is the music scene of Austin and San Antonio. The album features 10 tracks that showcase the extraordinary talents of the band members and exemplify the talent pool between both cities – area codes 512 in Austin and 210 in San Antonio. \nSince Summer 2020\, The Bluprint Band has captivated audiences at major venues throughout Central Texas. In addition to their shows and residencies\, they have performed at the JazzSAlive music festival\, been featured on the South Texas Jazz Project by KRTU 91.7 FM\, and most recently opened for Victor Wooten & The Wooten Brothers at Stable Hall.

DESCRIPTION:The String Queens’ mission is one of inspiration\, encouraging diverse audiences to love\, hope\, feel and imagine. The unique trio does so by taking listeners on a rousing musical journey through time and a multitude of musical genres. Based in Washington\, D.C.\, The String Queens have been featured in performances at renowned concert halls and venues nationwide\, including Carnegie Hall in New York City and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in the nation’s capital. At each site\, the women showcase a repertoire spanning from the Baroque Era to the Jazz Age to today’s Billboard Hot 100 Chart. \nThe Beatles\, Michael Jackson\, Aretha Franklin\, Harry Styles – the group presents the music of some legendary performers in distinctive arrangements of timeless classics that are rooted in joy. Their notable appearances include a special performance dedicated to then-Vice President Kamala Harris at the “We Are One” Presidential Inauguration Concert in January 2021 and rendering a spotlight presentation of The String Queens’ electrifying arrangement of Harry Styles’ hit song\, “Golden\,” for the Wimbledon tennis championships in 2021.

DESCRIPTION:Shannon Ingrassia-Murphy\, better known as the artist Shannon Sionna\, is bringing a new vibe to Pop-Soul Fusion in Central Texas. She participated in the local Our Part of Town Talent Show 2006-2011 and won the semifinals twice.\nIn 2022\, Sionna wrote and released the single “Tonight” with Ru Paul Drag Race’s Cynthia Lee Fontaine. A year later\, she released her EP Vienna featuring eight brand new songs written\, arranged and recorded from scratch with her band.\nShe has performed at the Texas Fashion Awards\, sang the National Anthem for a Scorpions soccer game at Toyota Field\, was featured on the KLRN city showdown of San Antonio performing artists and performed for CelebrateSA\, the New Year’s Eve official celebration at Hemisfair Park. \nSionna is currently working on a new EP in 2025\, and will headline her own Texas Tour to promote the release.

Their sound is a “Chicano Motown” that envisions Stevie Wonder crossed with Joe Jama or Donny Hathaway meets Sunny Ozuna. \nShowcasing multi-rhythm tracks ranging from fast bops to slow-tempo brown-eyed soul\, Joaquin echoes the Doo-Wop Era with three-part harmonies. Staying true to the legacy\, Joaquin seeks to revive the duty of Chicano musicians to bridge the gap between social justice activism and soul music from the civil rights movement.\nJoaquin & The Glowliners explore the intricacies of barrio romance and are richly textured reminders that Chicano love is indeed forever. \nRounded out by vocalists Amanda Joy Thomson and Sarah Rocha Bars\, the full band features Felipe Iruegas Jr. on guitar\, Luis “El Wicho” Gonzalez on bass and Jacob Benavides on drums.

DESCRIPTION:For Grammy-winner Avery*Sunshine – songstress\, pianist and composer – the name says it all. “Everybody loves the sunshine!” she says. The Pennsylvania native has been bringing on those good vibes for nearly three decades\, whether through her celebrated recordings or live performances on some of the world’s most notable stages. Over the years\, Sunshine has lent her voice to film soundtracks\, theater productions and even the 2008 Democratic National Convention. She has opened for noted jazz vocalist/pianist Rachelle Ferrell and soul singer Ledisi\, done background work for gospel icon Karen Clark-Sheard and performed with popular artistic influencers such as Michael Bublé\, David Forster\, Jennifer Holliday and Anthony Hamilton. \nIn February 2025\, Sunshine’s career shown particularly bright when she won a Grammy Award for Best Progressive R&B Album for her work\, So Glad to Know You. The album title reflects her attitude about her music and its effect on listeners. “When they mention my name or when people listen to my music and they feel better – I want to be remembered for that\,” she said in a recent interview.

With the help of GosPoetry and all that empowered it\, he was able to feed his artistry. \nMr. FUNkateer is more than a skilled musician; he is a soulful master motivator who has engaged audiences across the country with humor and authenticity.
