Saturday, April 12, 2008 8PM $26 Gershwin on Broadway offers songs from the greatest of Gershwin shows. Productions such as “Lady Be Good,” “Funny Face,” “Strike Up the Band,” “Of Thee I Sing” and “Girl Crazy” still thrill audiences as they did in the 1930's. Pianist Leon Bates has performed with major orchestras all over the world and his rendition of “Rhapsody in Blue” has the audience on their feet with every concert in every country where he has performed this American classic. Add the luscious voices of Louise Toppin and La Rose Saxon and Broadway favorite Cedric Cannon and you have a show that makes for a smashing success. Soprano La Rose Saxon’s singing has taken her across the United States and around the world, appearing in major opera houses throughout Europe. Louise Toppin has performed as a solo recitalist and orchestra soloist throughout the United States and Spain. Baritone Cedric Cannon made his Metropolitan Opera debut singing the role of Robbins in their production of “Porgy and Bess.”For more information visit their Web site.
